Autodesk Arnold Subscription – Activation on Your Personal Email: installation & activation

Step 1 – Place Your Order

Purchase the Autodesk Arnold Subscription from EasySoftwares.

Step 2 – Provide Your Personal Email

Provide the email address you want to use with Autodesk Arnold.

Please make sure:

  • Your email address is correct
  • You have full access to it
  • You can receive Autodesk emails

Step 3 – Create or Access Your Autodesk Account

If you already have an Autodesk account using the provided email address, continue using the same account.

If you do not have an Autodesk account, create one using the same email address provided with your EasySoftwares order.

Step 4 – Subscription Activation

EasySoftwares will process the Autodesk Arnold subscription activation for your provided email address.

If Autodesk sends you an invitation or confirmation email, open it and follow the provided instructions.

Step 5 – Sign In to Autodesk

After activation, sign in to your Autodesk account.

Open:

Autodesk Account → Products & Services

Check that your Arnold subscription or available Arnold downloads appear in your Autodesk account.

Step 6 – Install Your Compatible Arnold Plugin

Install the Arnold integration appropriate for your 3D software, such as:

  • MtoA for Maya
  • MAXtoA for 3ds Max
  • C4DtoA for Cinema 4D
  • HtoA for Houdini
  • KtoA for Katana

Some Autodesk applications may already include an Arnold integration.

Step 7 – Open Arnold License Manager

From your compatible application, open:

Arnold → Licensing → Arnold License Manager

The exact menu location can vary slightly depending on your host application.

Step 8 – Select Single-User Licensing

If required, choose:

License → Switch to Single-user Licensing

If Autodesk requests installation or registration of the required licensing components, complete the process.

Administrator permissions may be required.

Step 9 – Sign In

Click:

Use the same Autodesk account associated with the personal email address provided with your EasySoftwares order.

Step 10 – Verify Your License

Arnold License Manager should display the status of your available single-user Arnold license.

You can then use Arnold according to the entitlement assigned to your Autodesk account.

System requirements

Arnold's requirements depend partly on the 3D application you use it with.

For example, your computer must also meet the requirements of Maya, 3ds Max, Houdini, Cinema 4D, or Katana if Arnold is being used through one of those applications.

Operating System

Windows

  • Windows 10 or later
  • 64-bit system
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 Redistributable

For a new professional workstation, Windows 11 64-bit is recommended.

macOS

  • macOS 11 or later
  • Intel-based supported Macs
  • Apple Silicon Macs are natively supported

Linux

  • 64-bit Linux
  • glibc 2.28 or newer

This is equivalent to modern distributions such as RHEL/Rocky Linux 8 or newer.

Processor

x86-64 Systems

A 64-bit CPU supporting:

SSE4.1

is required.

Modern processors from Intel and AMD are recommended.

Apple Silicon

Apple M-series processors are natively supported.

Recommended for Professional Rendering

  • Intel Core i7 / Core Ultra 7 or better
  • AMD Ryzen 7 or better
  • Intel Core i9 / Core Ultra 9 for demanding workloads
  • AMD Ryzen 9 for demanding workloads
  • High-core-count workstation CPUs for CPU rendering

Because CPU rendering can scale across processor cores and threads, more powerful multicore CPUs can significantly improve rendering performance.

Memory

Arnold's actual RAM requirement depends heavily on:

  • Host application
  • Scene complexity
  • Texture resolution
  • Geometry
  • Hair and fur
  • Volumes
  • Render resolution

Recommended

For general professional work:

16 GB RAM or more

For larger production scenes:

32 GB RAM or more

For complex VFX, animation, high-resolution textures, heavy geometry, and large production scenes:

64 GB RAM or more

Your host application's own RAM requirements must also be considered.

GPU Rendering Requirements

Arnold GPU rendering is available on Windows and Linux.

GPU rendering requires a supported NVIDIA GPU with Maxwell architecture or newer.

Examples of suitable modern NVIDIA graphics families include:

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX
  • NVIDIA RTX Professional
  • Supported NVIDIA workstation GPUs

GPU Memory

For general GPU rendering:

8 GB VRAM or more recommended

For complex professional scenes:

12–16 GB VRAM or more recommended

For extremely large scenes and high-resolution rendering, additional VRAM can provide significant benefits.

Important macOS Note

Arnold supports macOS, including Apple Silicon, but Arnold GPU rendering is currently limited to supported NVIDIA GPUs on Windows and Linux.

CPU rendering remains available on supported macOS systems.

NVIDIA Drivers

Arnold GPU rendering and NVIDIA OptiX denoising require supported NVIDIA drivers.

Autodesk currently specifies minimum driver versions for supported Windows and Linux configurations.

Keeping your NVIDIA graphics driver updated to a compatible Autodesk-supported version is strongly recommended.

Storage

Storage requirements vary based on:

  • Host application
  • Arnold plugin
  • Textures
  • Assets
  • Cache files
  • Render outputs
  • Project size

An SSD or NVMe drive is strongly recommended.

For professional 3D rendering work, sufficient additional storage should be available for large textures, render sequences, simulations, cache files, and project assets.

Recommended Professional Configuration

For a smooth professional Arnold workflow:

  • Windows 11 64-bit
  • Intel Core i7 / Core Ultra 7 or AMD Ryzen 7 or better
  • 32 GB RAM or more
  • Modern NVIDIA RTX GPU
  • 8–12 GB VRAM or more
  • NVMe SSD
  • Full HD, QHD, or 4K display
  • Compatible 3D host application
  • Stable high-speed internet connection
Recommended for Heavy Rendering & VFX

For complex animations, VFX, high-resolution renders, large scenes, heavy textures, volumes, hair, and production rendering:

  • Intel Core i9 / Core Ultra 9, AMD Ryzen 9, or workstation-class processor
  • 64 GB RAM or more
  • High-performance NVIDIA RTX GPU
  • 16 GB VRAM or more
  • High-speed NVMe SSD
  • Additional high-capacity storage for assets and rendered frames
  • Compatible professional 3D application
